  • Hello Santee!

Last weekend the Santee Historical Society hosted their annual Butterfly & Bee Party at the Santee Historic Barn on Magnolia Avenue. This free-to-the-public event was a perfect way to spend the Saturday before Mother’s Day. With over 300 visitors, they were treated to free milkweed plants, face paintings, coloring and crafts activities and more! There were several for-purchase vendors there too with nature themed items available (my favorite were the natural soaps) and some community partners like Santee Lakes showcasing some nature preserving efforts and highlighting the wildlife in their park. There were also barn tours being offered by docents for those curious about its history and what’s currently inside, and for anyone who missed out, they are open on Tuesdays from 10am-12pm and select Saturdays (hint: look for the “open” flag when driving by!). Thank you to the volunteers and partners who made this event possible, especially my daughter and two of her gal pals who helped with kid activities all day!
