Hello Santee!

I hold the privilege of sitting on the Board of Directors for the East County Economic Development Council and with that comes many opportunities. Last month, our board was invited to a special ceremony for GKN Aerospace as they are transitioning to a new, purpose-built engine parts repair facility in El Cajon as part of its strategy to meet increasing demand on popular platforms and expand its capabilities. The 150,000 square foot shop sits just across the Santee border, adjacent to Gillespie Field on Cuyamaca and Weld.

The ceremony, hosted by ECEDC President James Sly, brought in several GKN leaders from around the world, and special guest speakers like Senator Brian Jones, all there sharing powerful statistics on the economic impact aerospace provides within our county and the future needs of the industry which GKN will help serve. Expansions like these are a huge win for our region as we see job expansion take place just a few miles away and our part of the county gain more notoriety for global companies investing in East County. Congratulations to ECEDC for hosting such a momentous occasion and we look forward to GKN’s continued success.
