Hello Santee!
Last Thursday, one of our most meaningful events of the year — the Santee Heroes Celebration — was graciously hosted by Steve and Jennifer Rolf at their charming venue, Off Broadway Live. The evening brought together community members, leaders, and loved ones for a heartfelt tribute to the individuals who make Santee a better place through their service, leadership, and dedication.
Among the honorees was John Olsen, recognized as the 2024 Person of the Year, and one of our very own Chamber Directors, Mike Aiken, who received the Military Hero award. Mike was celebrated with a strong showing of support — including his family and several proud members of our local Santee VFW Post 9327 — making his moment especially moving.
It was incredibly special to be part of such a powerful evening. Hearing each honoree’s story reminded us of the courage, heart, and selflessness that exist all around us in Santee. There were moments of laughter, gratitude, and even a few tears as we celebrated the everyday heroes who quietly shape our community in extraordinary ways. A particularly heartfelt moment came when Kristen Dare, Interim President/CEO, was recognized by Dean Velasco and John Olsen for her dedication to the Chamber, as she prepares for a new chapter. It was a beautiful reminder of how much impact one person can have. A special thank you to committee members Stephanie Wooding and Susie Parks, who worked hard putting this event together — we couldn’t have done it without you.
This event was a true celebration of character, connection, and community. It left all of us inspired and reminded of the importance of recognizing those who give so much of themselves for the benefit of others.
