  • Hello Santee!

I’m sure all of you in town know about Santee Lakes, how could you not?! For me, it’s been a place I’ve frequented since I was a child and still enjoy immensely as an adult. Just about a mile away from my home, it makes for the perfect place to go on walks/runs, sightsee, or take family when in town for all they have to offer, especially their newest enhancement for onsite dining on their deck: Angry Pete’s Pizza.

I had the pleasure of meeting Pete last year when he came to our Santee Street Fair as a food vendor. It was a delight to go see him again yesterday as he gave me and my Board Chair, Melissa Dombo, a behind-the-scenes look at his dough making process for this amazing Detroit-style pizzas. We tried the classic pepperoni and a specialty “Animal Style” for those who can guess the spinoff here of another popular Santee eatery. (We also snuck in some appetizers and cold drinks, all of which left us wanting more) We spent quite some time there, dining on the deck, soaking up the sun and enjoying the views with our tasty treats and enjoying Pete’s company in between his other customers.

Please consider visiting there soon and trying something off his extensive menu. With pizzas, hamburgers, sodas, beers and snacks straight from Detroit, there is something for everyone. You can park outside the Lakes and use the pedestrian gate near Lake Canyon Road for a five minute walk at no cost, or join Pete on Valentine’s Day from 8am-4:30pm and enjoy free gate entry that day! Pro Tip: Get your “to-go” order placed in advance online since there is predicted rain on Tuesday. (www.AngryPetesPizza.com)
