This past weekend, the Santee Chamber of Commerce held it's 11th annual Santee Street Fair. This fair is the most work our Chamber puts into a single day event, the highest revenue generator for our organization and the largest public event in town. WE ARE PROUD of this fair! Like anyone who has organized a large scale event, you can probably relate to the exhaustion felt once those events have ended. I was lucky enough to get a photo taken of me while I still had some energy and was able to manage keeping a smile on my face! But like anyone else, I'm not a superhuman and I was ready for bed at the end of the night. This year's fair boasted sold-out spaces of over 300 vendors, a beer garden with 40 different drinks, food choices from over a dozen restaurants and caterers, carnival games and rides, an inflatable zone, a public education corner, two stages of continuous live entertainment and a one thousand square foot tent dedicated to honoring the reason we were able to have this fair in the first place. For those who were able to walk the inside of this tent, THANK YOU. You witnessed the California state exhibit "Remembering Our Fallen", a traveling photographic war memorial which honored military fallen from the War on Terror. This humbling and touching exhibit pays homage to our long weekend and personal freedoms in a way I struggled with for years. Finding the right balance of enjoying the fair and celebrating our heroes was something that took time and careful consideration. As I mentioned last week, I'd like to again thank our community partners,Sycuan Casino Resort & San Diego Christian College, for making this possible and for our Board of Directors who continued to enhance this experience for the public. I am grateful for your support and even more humbled by their service.
Thank you once again to those who came to the fair, participated as vendors, sponsored and helped support it in any way. Our success is thanks to you all.
