    Hello Santee!
Saturday morning the Santee Chamber of Commerce hosted interviews for the final portion of this year’s Miss Santee and Miss Teen Santee Pageant. Although the format was changed this year to not include a stage portion, I was so impressed with the quality of the production. Former title holders Alex Kuty (now Marketing Manager at Santee’s Chick-fil-A!) and Sierra Carruth were prime examples for these ladies of what it means to be a true ambassador for your city. These two women took their experience and dedication to the program to offer this amazing opportunity out to interested young ladies, carrying on a tradition of over 50 years for Santee. I was so pleased to be invited to participate on the panel of judges who were able to read essays on their desire to hold this title as well as host face-to-face interviews with them, pulling questions from their essay portion, out-of-school activities, family life, school and career goals, how they will engage with the residents as Miss Santee and beyond! The contestants were some of the most impressive gals I’ve ever met for their age. It makes me so proud to know our city will be represented by these amazing role models to the youth of Santee (including my fourth grade daughter who I hope will consider participating as she ages up).

I’ve mentioned several times that Santee hosts a series of summer concerts on Thursdays; tonight, at the beginning of this evening’s concert, the contestants will all gather for the naming of the winners of the 2019 Miss Santee and Miss Teen Santee pageant. I invite you all to join us as we crown the next two ladies who take on this title, and serve Santee. If you are unable to make it tonight, stay tuned for our announcement of the new titleholders and look for them as they volunteer around town all year, learning more about how our city and chamber operate, give back at community events, and lead the way for the next generation of people who love our town. Can’t wait to see the winners and all of you – happy Thursday!
