As we all practice our new normal, I am proud to say the Santee Chamber is abiding by the good rule of social distancing as we are working remotely from the comfort of our homes. For me personally, I am enjoying the change and trying to embrace the extra time gifted with our kids while balancing the dispersing of relevant information to our business community and residents. We will continue to share said information via our website which we are updating regularly.
As for other news, I forgot to mention the County’s grand opening of their new Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s Office which took place on March 12th. This facility is so incredible to have here in town. Their 3.6 acre lot boasts the first-ever county archives for San Diego (which is LEED gold certified and the first archive in the country with that accreditation!) and I learned that only 15 counties in California even have their own archives. Their focus on customer service is very apparent in the design of the 7,700 square foot building. Much of the staff work in East County and its placement near Trolley Square will make it an easy destination for visitors from out of town. They offer indoor and outdoor areas for weddings and had already hosted almost 75 at the time of their ceremony! Although the office is currently closed to the public, I wanted to thank the many member of our Board who came to support the opening (Darcy, Doug, Pam, Jim, James, Ailen, Sarah and Mike A.) and for Gail from Assemblyman Voepel’s office for taking a tour with me and of course, a quick selfie!
