Well it's been a whirlwind past two weeks and we are jumping right into the holidays. I have to start by saying thank you to every single person, business and organization who contributed towards the construction of the Santee Veterans Memorial we dedicated on Veterans Day to the City on Veterans Day. The event was a success with an estimated crowd of over 500 and the only photo I think I grabbed was with Senator Jones as he made sure the Chamber received a certificate of recognition. We always appreciate the support of our elected officials and the time they spend with us.
We rolled right into a golf tournament the next day at Carlton Oaks and continued our celebration of local veterans. It was a beautiful day on the course with a sold out crowd, many vets playing and every hole sponsored by a business who also helped support a veteran service organization being on site that day. We are so grateful to have hosted such a unique tournament for our region and especially enjoyed the involvement from locally veteran-owned organizations like Chick-fil-A and Copper Collar Distilling. We are forever in debt for their service to our country.
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and reminding you all that even though this weekend marks the annual "Shop Small Saturday", I encourage you all to do that as often as possible. As we see supply chain interruptions continue, staff shortages remain, and small businesses struggling, eat local, shop local and be kind.
