This week is the start of the school year... in some ways! The Santee School District has modified their hybrid learning model to now offer full-time instruction on campus for K-5th grade (junior high has extended hours now too but with modifications due to variations in their courses offered). For months, K-8 students have been broken into two cohorts, with schedules offered in either the morning or afternoon for just shy of three hours. This new extension in their program was a much-welcomed change in our household, and I've been hearing from others, theirs too.
I want to thank everyone at the Santee School District for making this possible. From the Board of Education, to the administration, to the campus support staff and especially to the teachers, this has been a school year for the books and the amount of work that has gone into our children's education is immeasurable. Our kids are pretty amazing, too. We've watched them transition now from fulltime distance learning, to a hybrid model never-before-offered, to an almost back-to-normal timeframe on campus... our children are resilient and deserve just as much praise. I am grateful my mini-me is buckling down on her education. Up next, Grossmont Union High School District!
