  • Santee Chamber Weekly Update 16JUL20

  • Hello Santee!
A quick thank you is in order for the MANY businesses who advertised and contributed to the Summer 2020 issue of The Santee Magazine. The Santee Chamber office staff bundled up over 20,000 copies which are slated to arrive in mailboxes today and tomorrow. Although there are many of you doing well right now, we all just watched as the business industry was hit hard AGAIN this week. I am having a hard time finding the right words to say to those industries named for immediate shutdowns. Maybe those words don’t exist because this doesn’t feel right. We have watched businesses struggle for months now and some reopening under extreme conditions only to be closed down again less than a month later. Where do we go from here? How do we keep fighting if we are hitting every roadblock along the way? How much longer can we all survive like this? ARE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE YET? I sure am…

The experiencing of working for a Chamber of Commerce is so bittersweet. I see those thriving right now in an unknown environment; I envy them. I praise them. I support them. Then I see those who are frustrated beyond measure; I hurt for them. I want more for them. I support them. So how do we help our business community survive? Let your voice be heard so our City Council can make decisions with input from our residents and business owners. The next regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday July 22. To Submit Live Public Comment, send an email to cityclerk@cityofsanteeca.gov with the following, your name (or if you’d like to remain anonymous) and that you’d like to make a non-agenda public comment. Then make sure to be registered and login for the actual meeting which will be available on the City’s website. The City staff will unmute your microphone and call on you when it is your turn to speak. Let them know your thoughts on what they can being doing to help business NOW.
