Santee Chamber Weekly Update 15AUG19
Hello Santee!Last week was leadership overload for me, in all the right ways! I was invited as a guest of Todd Tolson from Riverview Community Church, to attend a two day summit which is held in Chicago but globally broadcasted allowing us to attend a local viewing in East County. Maybe some of you have heard of it, participated in a viewing venue or even attended in Chicago for this annual Global Leadership Summit. For Todd, this is something he’s probably been participating in for about 20 years. For me, it was the perfect timing in my life to experience it for the first time as it really reaffirmed so much of what I had taken in during my first three days of the week.A few years ago, my Board of Directors decided to start investing in me as an employee of the Santee Chamber of Commerce. By the suggestion of one of our Directors, Joe Mackey, I was enrolled in a three-year program named “Academy” through the Western Association of Chamber Executives. This three-year training program has given me the tools, resources, connections and confidence to finally feel confident in taking our chamber to the next level. The added benefit to this amazing experience has been the friendships I’ve pulled from these courses and the ability to have an additional network of support not even in my hometown. I really enjoyed visiting Sacramento the last three years and growing with these people. I feel so blessed to always have people around me and encouraging my personal and professional growth. A few of us ladies from the conference decided to break out one evening and tour the rose garden at the capital. I’m so glad we took the time to invest in one another, ask someone nearby to take a photo, and obviously stop to smell the roses.
