Some of my favorite events with the Chamber have been on hiatus the past year and a half and honestly, it’s been saddening to not gather the way we had pre-pandemic. It never feels good to postpone, suspend or even cancel an event and it’s always followed by disappointment. I’m happy to report we finally held an event for our members that was both “large” (about 100 guests) and intimate at the same time! Sycuan Casino Resort came in to save the day when we told them we still hadn’t hosted our annual Awards Night, traditionally held in February.
After a very delayed start on our Santee’s Favorites program, we took our usual event to announce winners and gave it a spin with some much welcomed flare. As Sycuan hosted us in a private space rental of their Elicit Restaurant, we held a reception for the newly crowned winners of Santee’s Favorites and were able to honor some community leaders with a much overdue celebration.
A huge thanks to Sycuan Casino Resort for remaining fluid as we move through these times as partners and celebrate business in new and special ways, and another thanks to my friend Eddie Vandiver (pictured), who has been my co-host for the past several years and uses his professionalism to help make me look good in front of a crowd.
