On Tuesday our Chamber celebrated the Grand Opening of EBIS (Enhanced Benefits Insurance Solutions). For those who were paying attention, their office is in La Mesa. This was a fun surprise when we had a few folks ask why we were doing a ribbon cutting there or why they wouldn't just use La Mesa's Chamber for the task. First I'd like to note, all are welcome. The Santee Chamber is proud of our town and its business members but we do not exclude those from outside our city limits from joining. We realize there are many benefits to being tapped into our community and hey, maybe one day those outliers will move into 92071!
Secondly, I have to mention how proud I am of my friend, Jack Holder. Jack and I met back in 2007 when I was doing HR for a local offroad company. He was an Aflac agent and we had the employees who needed his services! We lost track of each other, reconnected on social media (as many do), then I found out he had moved to Santee with his lovely wife and two daughters. He joined the Chamber knowing that Santee was now his hometown, and worth the investment. In the meantime, he and his wife and some very important business partners took what was once only an Aflac agency and have morphed it into a business with purpose - something that speaks so well to me. They saw an industry changing in a way that didn't look right and managed to get in front of it and put the needs of their clients first by simplifying enhanced voluntary benefits while still creating solutions that fit the needs of their partners and clients.
They are proud to be leading the way down a new path and have every right to be, they are being the change they want to see. Congratulations to the entire EBIS team, we hope to see you all in Santee soon, doing great things.
