    April 04, 2019
    Hello Santee,
Friday marked a very special day for the Santee Chamber as we hosted our first ever, Santee Heroes Luncheon. This sold out luncheon was the spin-off from our annual Awards Night event where we were able to showcase our community leaders and celebrate their many accomplishments from 2018. Better yet, the Santee Chamber was able to name our 2018 Person of the Year, Buddy Rabaya. Many of you know him from his work with SMOAC  but it goes so far beyond advocating for rent control. We were touched to see the Crest Room at Carlton Oaks full of love and laughter as we praised each others accomplishments. I am so proud to be a part of this organization during a time where we have a Board of Directors who supports these types of signature events in our town. I'd like to thank a few key people who helped pull off that lovely afternoon:
    Mayor Minto (City of Santee)
For leading our town, and leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance to kick off our event with a reminder that we live in the greatest country in the world.
For blessing us with your presence and of course, blessing our group before we started in on the buffet! Your words are a gift.
    Dustin Trotter (TDT Construction)
For the past 13 months of wearing our Person of the Year hat and wearing it so well. It was my pleasure to have you help out that day and always.
Mike Aiken & John Chen (Carlton Oaks Golf)
For making your venue feel like I was just hosting 180 of my closest friends in my own backyard and for the rest of the wonderful staff.
    Bobbie Jo Lewis (Walmart)
For offering your time to this, but trusting me along the way. It's not always easy to find time to volunteer and I appreciate yours so much.
    Kristine Costa (Waste Management)
For helping me execute a plan with a positive attitude and smile. Knowing this was the right direction to go was so much easier with you by my side.
And our entire Board of Directors, all the folks who sponsored, those who attended and those who are ready to join us again next year! A special note to a last minute surprise guest, Joel Anderson. I didn't have a chance to say hello and thank him for attending until I accidentally ran into him later that evening at one of my favorite places in town: the Gulls game!
